In his role at Confident Living, Inc., Laughlin will lead the fast-growing company's expansion into new markets. Confident Living, based in Boulder, Colorado, recently opened an office in Northern California. Up next, Laughlin will spearhead the opening of the Southern California market in September, followed by additional market openings in the Southwest and Midwest within the year.

Laughlin's experience includes overseas challenges as President of Human Kokusai Daigaku in Tokyo and Osaka and as a lecturer at Keio University and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies; he has also lived, worked, and volunteered in the Philippines, Argentina, and Costa Rica. As mentioned above, he is known for his work for CEDU Family of Services, where he provided leadership and management of the education component of the boarding schools. Prior to entering special needs education, Laughlin taught literature and writing at the high school and university level. Laughlin has written articles on issues related to the industry and has been a presenter at national conferences for the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs and the Independent Educational Consultants Association and has served as a consultant and advisor to various education startups and companies. He holds a Master of Arts in Education from Stanford University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University, and Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.
