Vive! How We Do It

Whether your family needs help with transition and aftercare, early intervention or independent living, your Vive! Practitioner Team will create a customized program for your family based on the principles of the Vive! Dynamic, which forms the core of our proprietary therapeutic model.

What is the "Crisis Continuum"?

The Vive! Dynamic - how it works

The Vive! Dynamic has enabled our Practitioner Teams - which consists of three therapists: a Mentor , a Parent Coach, and a Clinical Team Leader-help hundreds of families achieve lasting results. The Vive! Dynamic is based on 3 core principles:

  • Dual Approach
  • Grounded in Reality
  • Action Therapy

Following are discussions of these core principles.

Dual Approach

Sustainable healing requires an approach that addresses the teen or young adult's needs in the context of the family system. This requires that we work with both the teen and the parent(s) simultaneously.

The Vive! program matches the struggling teen or young adult with a Vive! Mentor who serves as that teen's friend, advocate, guide, and therapist, helping the teen navigate challenging decisions and relationships as they arise in real life. The teen or young adult's level of trust in the Vive! Mentor is imperative to the success of the therapy; for this reason, the Vive! Mentor works directly with the teen or young adult, rather than serving as both the teen's and the parents' therapist.

The Vive! program also matches parents with their own resource-an experienced Parent Coach. The Vive! Parent Coach is a dedicated resource who offers the expertise of a trained therapist, and the support of a friend, guide, and fellow parent.

The work of the Mentor and Parent Coach is knitted together by the team's Clinical Team Leader, an experienced therapist who coordinates the work of the Mentor, the Parent Coach and the family. The Clinical Team Leader helps ensure that the program moves the family toward its goals.

All Vive! Mentors, Parents Coaches, and Clinical Team Leaders are experienced clinicians with extensive adolescent and family experience. In addition, all of our Parent Coaches are parents themselves and approach each family situation from a place of experience and compassion.

Grounded in Reality

Vive! delivers its services where it counts the most: in your real world environment - where you live, where you work, where you go to school, where your family and community intersect.

We work within the context of everyday life to help adolescents and their parents navigate real-world, day to day issues. This is a profoundly different approach than traditional therapy or therapeutic programming, which generally takes place in a controlled environment.

By delivering our services directly to you in the familiar context of your family's natural environment, Vive! can translate therapy into practical, lasting solutions.

Action Therapy

The Vive! therapists on your Practitioner Team rarely engage you or your teen in an office or other controlled environment and are not restricted to working with you during typical office hours. We come to you in your real world when you or child needs us, applying our unique approach to your real-life experiences in the context of your natural environment.

Vive! mentoring can take place at a café, on a hike, or at a snowboard park, where the Vive! Mentor and adolescent can comfortably talk through practical decisions and strategies for a better life. Vive! Mentors use an active, practical approach to helping their mentees take healthy risks, experience the consequences of their actions, and overcome challenges to become happier, more independent and productive young adults.

Vive! Parent Coaches can counsel parents through specific family situations as they arise, helping craft solutions in the moment while planning for future situations. Parent Coaches advocate a situation-specific, practical approach to parenting. This approach empowers parents to view each situation as an opportunity to experiment with and practice new approaches to old problems.
