David is the President and Founder of Confident Living and has held every practitioner role in company-parent coach, mentor, and clinical team leader! As the company grows, David remains committed to keeping his hands on the practice side of things, teaching the Vive! Dynamic and playing an instrumental role in leading the clinical teams around the country. Dave has an M.A. in Education from the University of Colorado - Boulder, is a Certified Psychotherapist and has worked with kids and families as a teacher, counselor, therapist, mentor and coach for more than 20 years. Widely recognized as a passionate public speaker on the topics of troubled teens and family healing, David spends countless hours inspiring groups of parents and their children to achieve greater levels of confidence, love and mutual support through action-oriented processes rooted in their real world.
David has lived in Boulder for 15 years enjoying many of the outdoor offerings available out his backdoor. He is married to Leslie and has twin sons Max and Alex and a daughter Isabelle.
Terry Tierney, CEO

Terry has 22 years of business experience building brands and businesses ranging from a Fortune 5 company to start-ups and companies in between.
Terry joined Vive! in 2003 as a board member and stepped into the operating role of CEO in May 2005. Prior to this, Terry was the Chief Marketing Officer for Frontier Natural Brands, a leading natural products company with such prominent brands as Simply Organic and Aura Cacia. Prior to that, he was the President and CEO of Allegro Coffee Company, the leading brand of specialty coffee in the natural products industry and the #1 brand of organic coffee in the country. In 1997 Allegro was acquired by Whole Foods Markets, the leading natural foods retailer. Post acquisition, Terry became a member of the WFM National Leadership Team.
Today, Terry is involved with several companies and non-profit organizations, mostly as a board member. He resides in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Jenni and two daughters, Jessica and Mackenzie.
Patricia McCarthy, Director of Finance

Patricia has more than twenty years of experience in accounting, management, software applications training, and systems implementation. Previously, she was with Sciona, Inc., a venture backed bio-tech start-up. Patricia obtained a BS from the University of Washington . Early in her career, she was Controller and Trainer for Entré Computer Center in Houston, TX . After moving to Colorado, she ran an accounting systems consulting business for several years.
In 1991, Patricia was hired by Allegro Coffee Company. Here she had the opportunity to shepherd a small company through tremendous growth and prepare it for eventual merger with Whole Foods Market. Patricia was Senior VP of Finance/MIS when she left Allegro in 2000. She then worked as a financial consultant, helping several high tech, nonprofit, and natural foods businesses get off the ground. From 2002 - 2005 she was VP of Finance for Lion Properties, a real estate investment and property management firm. Patricia has been consistently recognized for her team building skills and for her ability to combine accounting with information systems to optimize back-office systems, streamline processes, and create proper audit controls.
She is President of the Tibetan Children's Education Fund, a nonprofit she helped found in 1994. Patricia lives in the mountains west of Boulder, where she enjoys hiking, biking and skiing with her family.
Beth Laughlin, Director of Referral Relations and Customer Service

Beth Laughlin has been involved in counseling, education, and marketing for the past 13 years. After graduating from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in psychology, she worked for two years as a counselor and social worker. Beth then returned to school to earn a master's degree in counseling and has worked since in a variety of educational settings in the U.S. and abroad.
Beth served as the director of student counseling services for a Japanese international college, where she gained experience in international work with students in transition between adolescence and adulthood. After returning from Japan, Beth worked for CEDU Family of Services, Inc. as the consultant services manager for the company's California schools, and then as referral relations director for Auldern Academy. Beth has also had the opportunity to help several schools and companies develop marketing plans and integrated communications systems on a consulting basis.
Beth was a member of the U.S. Gymnastics Team for three years under the tutelage of coach Bela Karolyi, and was the 1981 U.S. national champion. She was granted a full four-year athletic scholarship to Stanford University. Beth enjoys aerobics, running, home remodeling, and is an avid reader of early 20th century women's literature.
Will Laughlin, Director of Business Development

After Graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in literature, Will Laughlin took a job as a counselor in a day-treatment program for severely emotionally disturbed children. He fell quickly and permanently in love with the work of therapeutic education and enrolled in graduate school at Stanford University to earn a master's degree in education. After three years as a public high school English teacher, he returned to graduate school to earn a second master's degree, this time in counseling.
Will has since served as a consultant to education programs and startups, a university instructor and administrator, and an executive for education companies, including CEDU Family of Services, Inc., where he was the executive director of the company's seven academic programs, and Auldern Academy, where Will served as head of school. Will's interest in international education brought him to Japan, where he served as the president of a Japanese international college with campuses in Osaka and Tokyo, and then to Costa Rica, where he helped launch a year-abroad program for college-bound high school students.
Will is passionate about athletics and especially loves surfing and extreme running events; last October he placed fifth overall and first in his age group in a 150 mile race across the Sahara Desert involving amateur and professional athletes from thirty countries. Next summer he will compete in a similar race across the Gobi Desert in China , where he will raise money for Team Vive!, which supports community-based therapeutic programs for underprivileged teens. He enjoys all kinds of adventure, including writing fiction, eating strange foods from faraway cultures, and exploring hidden places in foreign countries. Will feels fortunate to have had opportunities to share these passions with young people as a coach, writing instructor, and director of international programs.
